Black Friday-mania has officially spread across the pond. Skeptics may dismiss it as marketing hype but it’s hard to ignore that most Black Friday discounts significantly eclipse those during any other sales and the timing is perfect for Christmas shopping. Saving money and a less stressful December? Not something you want to disregard entirely.
With the exception of some leaks and rumours, most deals aren’t released until Friday, November 24th, often at 12:01am. Here’s our pick for the Black Friday sales you should get behind.
If midnight starts aren’t your thing get in touch and we can watch the sales for you.
Since we first saw images of Americans hauling giant TVs through department stores Black Friday has always been synonymous with huge discounts on technology items.
This year is no different. Curry’s have let us know they mean business by going so far as to publish a survival kit. Last year they offered £700 off Samsung 4k TV’s, £200 off selected laptops and tablets for less than £30. Argos is also one to note, last year they brought us the biggest discounts on games and consoles. This year they promise not to disappoint and have suggested logging on at 3 am to avoid missing out!
Amazon, a Black Friday veteran, have started the celebrations early with a slew of deals available already. There are great deals on electronics with TVs already being reduced by hundreds of pounds and everything from electric toothbrushes to pet food being discounted by up to 70%. Once Black Friday hits, Amazon promises to be offering even more with thousands of “Lightning Deals” at further discounts in very limited quantities.
ASOS haven’t let their Black Friday plan slip but they have announced they will be participating. ASOS frequently offer discount codes so we wouldn’t recommend blowing your whole budget on basics. However, ASOS stocks a lot of higher end brands like All Saints, Reiss and Whistles where even a 20% discount equates to a very significant cash saving. Marks and Spencer are being similarly tight-lipped but they offered a whopping 50% off last year, earning their spot on our list as one to keep an eye on.
We were very disappointed to hear our designer friends at Net-a-porter and Selfridges were not going to be participating in the Black Friday madness. Luckily Very Exclusive are here to save the day. No word yet on exactly what they will be offering but it is a rare opportunity to save money on brands like Barbour, Vivienne Westwood and Alexander Wang that rarely offer discounts directly.
If your beauty shelf is looking a little sparse Boots, Superdrug, Debenhams and House of Fraser are all rumoured to be putting forward some serious deals across makeup and fragrance. This offers a great opportunity to restock your holy grail products for cheap or treat yourself to a fiscally responsible winter refresh.
With only a few days to go, it’s time to sign up to mailing lists, turn notifications on and set your alarm. Or, if looking at these links is already giving you a stress rash, drop us a line and we can shop the sales for you.
Wondering what to do with all the cash you saved? We’d suggest gifting yourself some time by the fire and outsourcing your holiday chores to lifeadmin! We are professionals at sending out your Christmas Cards and we have even been known to organise travel and accommodation for those guests that won’t fit on the sofa this year.
