Starter tips to achieve a better work-life balance

This week is an opportunity for both employers and employees to focus on well-being at work and work-life balance with National work-life week 2nd-6th October.

We know too well that 9 to 5 doesn’t exist anymore. It’s more like 24/7 when you consider all the work and life admin we have to contend with. With today’s culture of commuting long distances to work, skipping a lunch break just to try and keep up and checking the pinging emails on your phone last thing before you shut your eyes at night, we constantly have work at the forefront of our minds. And to put it bluntly, that ain’t healthy folks!

Here at lifeadmin, we are big advocates of well-being. We believe that taking some time for yourself is very important and our goal is to give people that time by taking tasks off their to do list.

Whatever you like doing in your spare time is up to you. It could be going to the gym, meditating or maybe finding the country’s best burger joint is more your thing. Whatever it is, free time to do what you want will not only improve your mental health, it will also help you physically.

Here are 3 lifeadmin tips to help you find the right work-life balance:

Don’t sleep with the enemy!

Leave your phone outside of the bedroom. Replying to emails late at night is not conducive to your best response. The majority of work emails are not time sensitive and can wait for you to get your beauty sleep. Turn your phone off, shut those peepers and give it your proper attention tomorrow.

Don’t get bogged down in the stuff you hate.

If you don’t want to do something, don’t do it. I know it’s easier said than done but believe me, if you spend your precious free time bogged down in something your heart isn’t 100% into, not only will you not enjoy it, but you’re also very likely to make mistakes.

Outsource, outsource, outsource

The amount of screen time we have is unhealthy. Don’t spend an entire day at work in front of a computer screen and then come home to more life admin.
